What's New in Savvyshot 1.4.2: A Better OCR Text Selection, Style Profile Controls, and More

Savvyshot 1.4.2 is here, with a smarter way to work with OCR text, more control over your editing workflow, and some real quality-of-life fixes under the hood. Here's everything that's new.

A Better Way to Select OCR Text

New OCR Text tool in action

OCR text selection isn't new to Savvyshot — you've been able to select text scanned from your screenshots while editing for a while now. But that convenience came with a tradeoff: having text selectable by default could get in the way while you were trying to draw annotations on top of it.

1.4.2 fixes that. There's now a dedicated "OCR Text" button on the top toolbar. Click it, and every piece of text the app recognizes gets highlighted. From there, you can select specific text manually, or just hit Copy All Text to grab everything in one click.

Annotating is back to being friction-free, and OCR text selection is now a deliberate action instead of something you have to work around.

Smarter Style Profile Controls

Savvyshot now gives you more control over how style profiles behave when you open the editor, with two new settings:

New style settings

  • Apply default style profile to new screenshots — choose whether your default style profile is applied automatically
  • Show style panel on open — choose whether the style panel appears automatically when you open a screenshot And even if you turn "Show style panel on open" off, you can still show or hide the style panel manually at any time from within the editor.

Style side panel can be hidden now

If you prefer a cleaner editing surface or want to apply styles manually, you can now set things up exactly the way you like.

New iPhone 17 Device Frames

We've also added device mockup frames for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air — handy if you're preparing App Store listings, marketing pages, or social posts with up-to-date device mockups.

Permission Check on Mac

For Mac users, we've added a built-in Check Permission feature to help quickly verify that Savvyshot has the system permissions it needs to capture and annotate screenshots properly. No more digging through System Settings to figure out what's missing.

Scrolling Capture Fixes

We also fixed a couple of issues affecting scrolling capture: duplicate segments that occasionally appeared in stitched screenshots, and slow stitching performance on longer captures. Scrolling capture should now feel noticeably faster and more reliable.
