Frequently Asked Questions

Is my data uploaded anywhere?

No. Screenshot capture, editing, annotation, and redaction all run locally on your machine. The only network requests Savvyshot makes are for things you explicitly trigger — Unsplash/Pexels searches for backgrounds (see Canvas & Backgrounds), license verification (see Activating Your License), and update checks (see Updates).

Why does Savvyshot ask for Screen Recording / Accessibility permissions on macOS?

These macOS system permissions are required for capturing screen content and for scrolling capture to scroll the target window automatically. See Installation for how to grant them.

How do I change my capture hotkeys?

Open Settings → Shortcut Keys, click into the field for the capture mode you want to change, and press the new key combination. See Settings.

Where are my exported screenshots saved?

By default, captures are saved to the raw file save location configured in Settings → File Management. You can change this folder, and customize the filename format using the {datetime} placeholder. See Settings.

What image formats does Savvyshot support?

The editor can open PNG, JPG/JPEG, and WebP files (see Importing Existing Images), and exports to PNG, JPG, or WebP (see Exporting). Screenshots with video backgrounds can also be exported as GIF or MP4.

How do I remove the watermark from my exports?

The default watermark only appears on unlicensed (free) exports. Activate a Basic or Pro license to remove it and apply your own custom watermark instead. See Plans & Pricing, Activating Your License, and Watermark.

I bought a license — how do I activate it?

See Activating Your License for the full activation flow, including what to do if verification fails.

Can I use Savvyshot on more than one computer?

Yes, up to your plan's device limit: a Basic license can be activated on 1 device, and a Pro license on up to 3 devices at the same time. Enter the same license key on each device to activate it there. See Activating Your License and Plans & Pricing.

My scrolling capture stopped partway through — what happened?

This usually means the selected region included content outside the actual scrollable area, or the target app uses a non-standard scroll container. Try selecting a slightly smaller region fully inside the scrollable content. See Scrolling Capture.
